Field tests have shown that purple martins will almost always choose the 11” Natureline Plastic Gourd over any smaller natural or plastic gourds. The smooth polypropylene exterior surface washes clean each time it rains. (Extra stubborn stains - such as berry stains - may be removed from the outside of Natureline Plastic Gourd with a detergent and bleach solution. Use proper care to insure that all cleaning solutions are removed from the gourd prior to occupancy by the purple martins.)

Want to experiment with a new opening? The Natureline Blank Door Insert can be cut with ordinary wood cutting tools that are found in most home shops.

Protective Canopies are molded onto each of the Natureline Plastic Gourd Door Inserts. These canopies help keep the nest area dry. The canopies are purposely designed with a smooth rounded surface to keep predators from perching near the gourd opening.

Drain holes are molded into the bottom of each Natureline Plastic Gourd. For those who choose to add additional drain holes, polypropylene is easily drilled using an ordinary drill.

The adjustable vent on the top of each Natureline Plastic Gourd helps to increase the birds’ comfort in all weather and promotes more healthy conditions inside the gourd.

Pre-drilled hanger holes allow you to quickly and easily choose the direction that the gourd opening faces.

A “tongue-and-groove” joint between the two Natureline Plastic Gourd halves eliminates water leakage through the side walls of the gourd. Unlike some other two-piece gourds on the market, THE NATURELINE PLASTIC GOURD REQUIRES ABSOLUTELY NO ADHESIVES OR SEALANTS during or after assembly!
